Brothers and Sisters,
There are many different ways to display love for a child. A warm embrace, or the wiping of a tear from the cheek of a child. Perhaps an irresistible smile that is so great that you can't help but smile back. There's the warm shoulder offered when your child needs comfort, or the exchanging of the words "I love you" with one another.
But there is a greater love that we constantly misconstrued as judgment, and that love is one of chastening. Correcting in love to protect from harm.
What does God say...
Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
Proverbs 3:11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
Psalms 94:10 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
Point to ponder...
If we accept God's correcting of us, we can produce the righteous fruit He is leading us to. He would not use the experiences of life to correct our ways if it did not have a positive result. What and how we handle these corrections determines what we learn and how much we can grow from them.
It is not until judgment day that we are judged. So we must not view our life's difficulties as punishments, but guiding tools to grow from. That is where we can all find our joy in the chastisement of God.
For those of you who have children.... Do you not correct them when they do wrong? Do you not use their mistakes to educate them to keep them from harming them selves in life? Do you not do these things because you love them more than your own life? You know you do. So we must ask ourselves... Why is it acceptable for us to chastise our children, and we as children of God do not accept His chastisement? Is our Lord not greater than we? Of course He is.
John 13:16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
Application part....
1. Remember to give thanks in all things, including the correcting you receive from God.And look to find what He is wanting you to learn from it.
Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
2. Trust in Him with all your heart, not trying to figure out what His reasons are.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
3. Always remember to praise God through the good and the bad experiences.through His gifts of mercy as well as His chastisements. For both are given to us with love.
1 Chronicles 29:13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.
4. Keep your communication lines open with the Lord, for this is the key to victory in Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
Let us pray...
Father,
Even as a small child I did not like to be corrected, and as an adult it does not get any easier. But I come to You for Your guidance and correction, because You can see what I cannot see in my future. Keep my steps solid and righteous, as I learn to embrace your chastisement and not reject it. For I do know there is a true joy at the end of my journey with You. In Jesus precious name . Amen!
God bless you always
Carol
2 Corinthians 6:17-18 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
